Leisure: Antiques marvels at Mentmore

JOSEPH Paxton’s Mentmore Towers – one of England’s finest country houses and former baronial home of the Rothschild family – provides the stunning backdrop to this year’s Mentmore Arts, Crafts and Design Show.

The three day event will present many of the UK’s top craft and design companies showing an extensive range of original pieces.

There’ll be quirky, inspiring and individual works of art in the form of leather and textile handbags, women’s clothing, dazzling jewellery, fine bone china, sculpture and much, much more. Many of the exhibitors will also be demonstrating their skills.

And if all that browsing whets your appetite you won’t go hungry. Family run business Auntie Christine’s will be at the show with a fabulous selection of homemade soups, quiches, paninis, cakes, coffees, teas and fine wines.

The arts and crafts extravaganza will be held at Mentmore, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 0QN from Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 21 (Friday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm).
