Student Ele, 27, from Hollingdon, and Emma, 28 from Linslade, have undergone 90-mile training rides in preparation for Saturday’s 10-day marathon.

They are raising money for Action This Day, a charity that runs a community school in Kenya.

Ele said: “Neither of us are pro cyclists. However, we are both super keen to raise as much money for these amazing children as possible.”

The school was set up after pupils at an existing school were found to have been suffering physical and sexual abuse. Ele’s sister, Gina, has since volunteered at the school, which cares for 130 children, and will be part of the girl’s support team for the ride.
