Custard at the ready for Bugsy Malone auditions

IT’S one of the messiest musicals ever staged but the cast have a great time splurging each other in gooey gang battles that take place in the sensational Bugsy Malone.

The production, which is made up entirely of children, is being staged by Curtain Call Theatre Group and they are holding open auditions for cast members.

The group’s principal, Gavyn Lugsden, said: “We’re staging the full version of the show, which is the same as the award-winning movie, and we are looking for singers and dancers, particularly tap-dancers, to take part.

“Auditions are being held Sunday, from 11-2pm, and next Sunday at the same time.

“The youth section of our theatre group meets each Sunday at the Cedars Upper School drama studio, Linslade, and is open to children aged five to 15.”

Bugsy Malone is a down-at-heel boxing promoter during the Prohibition Era who find himself in the middle of a turf war between Fat Sam and Dandy Dan. When the fighting breaks out the mini-gangsters splurge each other with custard-powered pistols.

The show is being staged at The Raven Theatre, Linslade, in May.
