A 14-year-old guitar virtuoso is set to play at a summer festival.

Billy Watman, an Anglo-Brazilian fingerstyle guitarist from Princes Risborough, will appear on stage at the Beacon Festival near Watlington on Saturday.

Billy started playing the guitar aged six, and is now a regular performer at live events locally and nationally.

He’s due to play the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later in the year.

Last year, Billy’s classical cover of Bohemian Rhapsody appeared on Queen’s official Facebook page.

The Beacon Festival, now in its third year, takes place on June 19 and 20 at Watlington Hill Farm.

There is a mixture of local, up-and-coming and national circuit bands, and a few tribute bands – rock, indie, folk and alternative.

Bands include Rusty Shackles who have headlined at the Towersey Festival and performed at Glastonbury,

Flash are one of the UK’s top Queen tribute bands and Megan Henwood is a regular on the folk rock circuit.

She has appeared at Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival.

Organiser Michelle Pethers said: “This is a great opportunity for local bands to get their music heard and have some fun.”
