A new comedy night will be trialled at the Queens Park Arts Centre next month, which could become a regular event if it proves a success.
The show on February 16 features a mix of rising stars and established circuit performers.
Organiser Peter Purvis, of Aylesbury, hopes it will act as a platform to support new talent.
The 49 year old, who performs under the name Fred Ferenczi, said: “It’s really to give an opportunity to good new stand ups, that’s my motive.
“They are mostly people that I have trained with, through Logan Murray – who taught people like Rhod Gilbert – and each year trains new comics as part of The Tringe Comedy Festival.
“That’s how I originally started in comedy with The Tringe the year before last.
“Many of the unknown people on the bill are now doing extremely well, getting paid gigs and getting to the finals of competitions.
“I’m sure we’ll see some of them on TV game show panels in the near future.
“I have also got more established comedians performing as well, such as Mary Bourke who lives in Chesham and is excellent. Also, on the night, I have another circuit comedian called Rob Coleman.
“I think it’s the right mix of comedians and I hope to make it a regular night if it’s successful.”
Peter jokes that he intended to be ‘more like the manager than players’ when he was booking the show and only decided to perform at a late stage.
“I’m just doing it because I like comedy and I wasn’t going to put myself into the show,” he said.
“But I had one chap drop out and so I thought I would give it a go.”
The Comedy Variety Night takes place on Saturday February 16 from 8pm at Aylesbury’s Queens Park Arts Centre.
