GOOD WISHES to David Summers in his new position. As editor of The Bucks Herald for the past six years he has supported local correspondents of these columns which are widely read by others not in the area.
CATS PROTECTION LEAGUE. The Chiltern branch covers Westcott which has three members. After a very successful meeting some months ago, Peter Soper tells me that he now has more volunteers and hopes to form a strong committee shortly.

The Chiltern
Branch covers a wide area of Bucks, some local villages having no representation. Peter and his wife, Sally, have 14 cats of their own and give expert leadership to all cat lovers. More paying members are needed as well as anyone who can offer practical help in various ways. If you are a cat fan, your correspondent will be pleased to give you information about CPL and you will not be pressured to do more than you are able.

SCHOOL OPEN DAY, OCTOBER 31. Perhaps because parents have jobs and were unable to visit the school in working hours, there was a sparse attendance. The head teacher, Julie Hickey, will give a personal tour of the school to parents who are considering a primary school for their children, please make an appointment with her on 01296 651360.

WESTCOTT PARISH COUNCIL. Meeting October 30. A number of residents attended, mainly to raise concern about a bad road fault outside the old White Swan site. They had already taken this up with BCC and asked the parish council to do so. The first item on agendas for meetings is now reserved for members of the public to raise matters of concern in open forum. The council now has an e-mail address - westcottpc@btinternet.com

The council has put in a formal application for quality parish status, which, if approved, gives better access to, and support from, both the district and county councils.

It was agreed to ask the county council to consider improving the public footpath from Westcott to Waddesdon. This path leaves Lower Green and is almost a direct route across the fields, passing the garden centre and terminating on the A41 opposite The Bell, Waddesdon.
Anti-social behaviour is still taking place on the Green with under-age drinking, associated broken glass and cars driven on the grass. The police have already spoken to a number of people about this but need more information. They ask for any incidents to be reported to them as soon as possible.

Next meeting: Tuesday, December 11, 7.30pm, cricket pavilion. There will be no meeting in November.
