County Show a day to remember

AS you are reading this, thousands are enjoying one of the biggest one-day events in Bucks.
Yes, it's County Show time again and thousands will be flocking to the showground at Weedon Park.
Happily, this year also sees the welcome return of cattle and sheep after they were kept away by foot-and-mouth disease.
Although last year's event featured the usual impressive array of family fun events, trade stalls and equestrian displays, there is no doubt, that without the animals, a fundamental element of the County Show was missing.
As former Bucks Herald chief photographer Barry Keen said, "Aylesbury without the Bucks Show is like Brighton without the pebbles."
The day also serves to bridge the gap between urban and rural communities in Bucks.
In an era when agriculture is an ever dwindling industry, it is vital that our farmers get as much support as they can.
Children need to appreciate just how important our agricultural industry was, and still is.
The County Show is one the best and most fun ways to get this message across.
If you have never had the experience of going before, it really is a day to remember.
Although agriculture is the predominant theme, there really is something for everyone.
And it is a measure of the event's popularity that competitors in the livestock classes venture from as far afield as Norfolk just to take part.
The event draws tens of thousands of people and is one of the most important in Bucks' annual calendar.
We will have a team of reporters there on the day.
See you there!
