Tring go fourth despite ending in damp squib
Tring's league campaign ended on a low note on Saturday when all three of the club's senior sides lost their final matches.
The First XI took on High Wycombe and opted to bowl first.
Luke Cherry was the pick of the early bowlers taking three pre lunch wickets as Wycombe laboured to 109 for 5, the turning point of the innings came with a missed stumping chance, Matt Gitsham who survived the scare on 49 went on to make an unbeaten 111 and help the hosts to 265 for 9.
Simon Stanway was his usual consistent self taking 4 for 45 and Cherry ended with 3 for 34.
Tring's reply started disastrously as they slipped to 20 for 4 in the face fo some hostile bowling from Irish international Paul Connell. Wickets continued to fall but South African Kyle Nipper held firm and smashed his way to 102 as Tring were dismissed for 198.
The result left Tring in fourth place though within touching distance of league champions Henley.
The Seconds' season ended with a crushing 107 defeat against Falkland. The visitors batted and rattled up 229 for 6, Paul Orton taking 3 for 86.
In reply a young Tring side couldn't cope with the pace of Zubair Khan, he claimed magnificent figures of 9 for 26 off 18 overs as the hosts were bundled out for 122.
The result leaves the team in eighth place. The thirds rounded off a miserable season with a 45 run defeat at Purley on Thames which condemned them to relegation from Division 5 of the Thames Valley League.
Toby Wastling took 5 for 81 and Dan McDanger 3 for 20 as Purley managed 173 for 9. In reply Tring crashed to 30 for 4 before Andy Morgan 42 and Wastling 41 added some respectability, helping Tring reach 128.
On Sunday there were mixed fortunes for Tring's two friendly sides. Andy Grout turned in another captain's performance as his charges beat Aldbury by 84 runs.
Tring made 203 for 3 with Chris Curry and Sam Bastin unbeaten on 82 and 53 respectively.
Grout then took 3 for 10 and claimed three stunning catches, Ali Partner and Pete Darraugh also claimed two wickets apiece as the villagers were bowled out for 119. Richard Haynes' side lost a thriller to Bledlow Village by one wicket having made 154 for 8 the Bucks side scrambled home in a tense finish.
