Sprinter Bond has a licence to kill club’s 33-year-old 100m record

Jeff Bond of Vale of Aylesbury AC has broken the club's 33-year-old 100m record by 100th of a second.

Jeff Bond of Vale of Aylesbury AC has broken the club's 33-year-old 100m record by 100th of a second.

When Vale of Aylesbury Athletic Club’s 100m record of 10.90 seconds was set in 1979, sprinter Jeff Bond was not even born.

The ISIS chriopractor set the new best time of 10.89secs in Oxford with a legal wind of 0.8 m/s.

The original record of 10.90secs was equalled in 2007, but Bond left the club shaken and stirred with his sheer desire to finally break it.

“I have been aiming for that record for the last four years and managed to get the 200m record last year,” Bond said.

I was hoping to scrape into the Olympic trials this year for the 200m but tore my hamstring during the indoor season racing over 60m back in January.

“The hamstring strain kept returning in training and I wasn’t able to put any power through it so I finished my season before it really started.

“However I rested fully and managed to get six weeks of light training in before deciding to test my hamstring out at Oxford to see if I was ready to start winter training again and this was the result!”
