Video: Marathon proof your body

Waiting for Video...

WITH the London Marathon on the horizon, Herald Sport has teamed up with experts at Aylesbury’s Elite Physical Medicine to offer a comprehensive guide of how to make your body marathon proof.

If you are training for your first marathon you can get to know some common conditions that can arise from endurance training and useful tips to keep you injury free.

Your foot is unique and one size does not fit all. Footwear is so important in completing a marathon pain free; however do not get caught out by purchasing the wrong pair.

Conditioning, movement patterns and the way you run all illustrate the type of support and cushioning needed in a trainer. Speaking to a sports physiotherapist or podiatrist can help guide your search.

See Natalee Hazelwoods video in which Elite Physical Medicine physiotherapists Andy McCrae and Emily Ross show how best to prepare for the London Marathon.
