Vale of Aylesbury’s junior athletes competed in the first Apex Chiltern League race of the season on Saturday at Shotover Hill in Oxford.

There was a good turnout for the juniors and some great results. Olivia Lowrie and Lucy Perkins ran a fantastic race, their first for the club, finishing second and seventh in the U11 girls’ event.

Strong performances from the rest of the U11 girls, Kitty Conroy, Charlotte Yates, Natasha Bates, Rebecca Mabey and Bryony Easton secured first place for their team on the day.

Vale’s U17 boys were third as a team, with Tatenda Manjengwa their first athlete home in 10th place.

The U15 boys were fourth, with Luke Paulley coming third as an individual and Daniel Neal 14th in his first cross country season. For the adults, Charlie May led home the men in 30th place in a very strong field of 332 runner while Julia Austin was 12th and first Vet 45 in Division One.

With the new additions of Debbie Channer and
Kirsten Lawton to the existing veteran ladies team of Julia, Vicky Sheldon and Heather Fallaize, the club’s veteran ladies finished in second position overall.
