Like being in your pyjamas? Why not give judo a try

Aylesbury Vale Judo Club wants fresh blood

Aylesbury Vale Judo Club wants fresh blood

Aylesbury Vale Judo Club is celebrating its new name and venue by hosting an Open Afternoon on October 28 where visitors can try on a kit and have a go at the Olympic sport.

AVJC, formerly known as Bierton Judo Club, is looking to attract more and more young people to give judo a try.

Club coach Emma Woodage says the sport not only channels energy but can also help improve a child’s behaviour.

“For children and teenagers judo channels energy and misbehaviour issues,”

she said.

“We have a clear grading system to provide structure, focus and a pathway, with the opportunity to compete for players who wish to.

“We emphasise discipline, self-control and good sportsmanship.”

The club trains on Sunday afternoons at the Alfred Rose Centre in Elmhurst. Ages start from five and the first lesson is free.
