An Aylesbury bowler has been selected to play for England after finishing in the top eight in the country.
Lee Miller, 28, of Watermead, qualified to represent his country at international competitions this year after a highly successful season.
He said: “There are about 15 tournaments during the year which count towards qualifying.
“They use your highest eight scores and then select the top 12 players from the final standings.
“I missed the first couple of tournaments so to get in was a huge relief. I came second in the last tournament which clinched it.”
Lee is in the running to represent England in three international tournaments this year.
“My main aim is to get into the squad again next year for the World Cup.”
Miller said his dad was his bowling inspiration and he has been involved in the sport when he was just eight years old.
He added: “I took to it because it was something different from football.
“It’s inside and you don’t have to play it in the cold and the wet!
“It’s a great sport and I have made some lifelong friends.”
Lee trains at Jardines but will have to look elsewhere when the Aylesbury alley closes at the end of February.
“It’s a real shame they’re closing. They have been really supportive and have helped me no end. I’ll have to go further afield but I hope Jardines relocates in the near future.”
