Electric atmosphere as darts fans are treated to Pieman and Bull
Andy 'The Pieman' Smith, Maria Butler and Terry 'The Bull' Jenkins
Darts fans got a real treat on Saturday night when pro stars Terry ‘The Bull’ Jenkins and Andy ‘The Pieman’ Smith arrowed their way to Aylesbury.
The atmosphere was electric as 120 fans packed out the town’s TA Centre on Oxford Road, some of them getting a rare chance to play against two of the sport’s finest and most recognisable faces.
MC Little Richard kept the audience amused whilst Pro AM stage set provider Adie Mason made sure the walk on music and scoreboard were running smoothly.
The room was set up like a mini Alexandra Palace , all the brainchild of Aylesbury darts fanatic and organiser Maria Butler.
“My motivation has always been to bring the pomp and circumstance of the big televised darts competitions to Aylesbury,” Maria said.
“It is so expensive to go to the big venues, you may get the atmosphere but you are also very far away from the players. My exhibitions mean that you can actually get to meet the players, play against them and mingle.”
Jenkins, who has played at some of the top darts venues across the world, was equally impressed.
He said: “This is a fantastic venue and the crowd has been terrific. The hospitality was second to none.”
The local theme extended right through to the medals which were once again made and donated by Little Gifts in Kingsbury Square.
They were awarded to individuals that won a chance to play Terry or Andy on stage.
Maria thanked the many helpers and sponsors such as Taffs Taxis and Tesco Extra Broadfields. Aylesbury magician Sylar was also on hand to mesmerise members the audience with spectacular illusions.
The exhibition was so popular that more than half the tickets for the next event on March 30 have already been sold.
