What a Neate idea! Vale racer sets up his own touring car team
Andy Neate with his Chevrolet Cruze
Racing driver Andy Neate has this week announced plans to compete in the 2013 British Touring Car Championship with his own newly established team, IP Tech Race Engineering.
After years of contesting the championship with leading race outfits, Vale speedster Neate has taken the ambitious step to establish his own team who are building a Chevrolet Cruze (saloon) to the very latest specifications.
The team have exciting times ahead with just under three months remaining before the BTCC season opener on Easter weekend at Brands Hatch.
Neate said: “Competing successfully in the British Touring Car Championship is as much about putting the right people together as it is about experience. “I felt the timing was right to take advantage of the experience I’ve got both as a driver and an engineer and I’ve got the best people around me I could hope for.”
The short-term aim for IP Tech is to get some on-track testing going into the spring while the long-term objectives are far reaching with the specific aim of proving to be one of the most accomplished race car outfits in British motorsport.
Neate says it is a realistic target with a ‘dream team’ of highly experienced and successful engineers and designers making up the backbone of IP Tech Race Engineering. And he is sure a great season lies ahead, driven by fan power.
“I’m lucky to have a really loyal bunch of fans, particularly from the local area and we’re looking forward to showing them what we can do this season. It’ll be good to see some familiar faces trackside come March 30 at Brands Hatch.”
