Bucks Hornets U18s strengthened their position at the top of the East Conference in the National Basketball League after beating over local rivals Milton Keynes Trojans.

Winning 68-58, including 28 points from top scorer Tom Edwards, Bucks’ lead appears unassailable with two games remaining.

Coach Lee McCarthy said: “MK College is a tough place to play. It’s loud and atmospheric and we had a slow start but soon got going and were able to play the game at our tempo.

“Tom Edwards was particularly impressive offensively today, scoring 28 points, but in all it’s our team defence that has been impressing me most.

“We said at the beginning of the season we wanted to be a good defensive team and we’re sticking by that.

“I’ve known this group since they first started playing and have watched them go from U12 local league to what now looks like u18 East Conference champions. It’s such a pleasure to be coaching this group of young men.”

Elsewhere, Bucks U16s lost 70-57 against MK Trojans, while the U14s beat the same opposition 75-38.
