Swimmers from Aylesbury & District and Maxwell swimming clubs were in action for the distance events at the North Bucks and Oxford County Championship that took place during January.
The two weekends culminated in an excellent medal haul for the two Aylesbury-based clubs with Ruth Bridgman from Maxwell crowned overall county champion in the 400m individual medley and also overall silver medallist in the 400m freestyle.
Another Aylesbury swimmer to shine was Dan Morgan, who claimed a bronze medal in the 400m individual medley, while Maxwell’s Billy Martin became junior silver medallist in the 400m individual medley before he won bronze in the 400m freestyle.
Swimmers from both clubs also medalled in their respective age groups with Maxwell’s Bridgman and Martin claiming gold, Becca Ashworth, Alfie Bones, Sam Drew and Martin all winning silver, and Piers Nichols taking bronze.
Dan Morgan also claimed an age group silver, while the Maxwell 11/12 year boys team won gold in the medley relay and silver in the freestyle.
The main weekends of competition follow in February and will take place at the Aqua Vale Leisure Centre.
Aylesbury swimmers to gain top eight awards in their age groups were: Quinn Banning, Libby Blissett, Charlotte Neill, Joe Walker, the 11/12 year girls medley relay team and the 13/14 year girls freestyle relay team.
And from Maxwell: Adam Burrell, Rosalind Fell, Oliver Kenton, George Manser, Aisling Merrison, Olivia Phillips, Megan Pirrie, Sean Richards, Jack Rose, the 11/12 year girls medley and freestyle teams, 13/14 year girls medley relay team and the 13/14 year boys medley and freestyle teams.
