Late goals deny in-form Ducks

High-flying Ducks were left stunned on Wednesday night after two late goals denied them a sixth straight win.

The strikes, in the last three minutes of the clash with Leverstock Green, saw United slip to a 2-2 draw at Bell Close.

Aylesbury took the lead on 13 minutes, when Paul Edgeworth hooked Leon Gordon's flick-on past the despairing keeper.

And a freak goal shortly before half time gave the home side what appeared to be a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Will Smith's cross from the right hit a defender before being clawed away by the Leverstock keeper, but the ball ricocheted off Ben Baines and into the net.

Ducks continued to apply the pressure, and Edgeworth and Smith were both unlucky not to add a third before the break.

But in the second half Leverstock started to push forward, and keeper Jack Sillitoe had to be alert to keep a 76th minute free kick out.

With three minutes to go, Ducks paid the price of conceding a cheap free kick, when Leverstock's Jon Davies fired the ball into the top corner.

And in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Ducks paid the price for their sloppy finish, after Bill Morgan produced a clinical finish to give his side a last-gasp equaliser.

The result leaves Aylesbury in seventh place, eight points behind early leaders Hillingdon Borough.
