Aylesbury and Arsenal’s Ellen White started and played 79 minutes as England Women threw away a 2-0 lead to share a 2-2 draw with France in a friendly in Paris on Saturday.

Hope Powell’s side looked to be cruising at half-time thanks to goals from Steph Houghton and Jill Scott, but two defensive lapses allowed Marie Delie to score a second-half brace at the Stade Charlety.

It was a good result for England against the team which knocked them out of last year’s World Cup as White re-established herself as the number nine.
