Too wet even for Ducks but United hope to get back on the pitch against Leverstock
Tony Joyce
Aylesbury United will be hoping to get their promotion bid back into full swing this Saturday after their local derby against Berkhamsted was the latest to be called off.
Tony Joyce’s men were expecting to play the match on Saturday and on the morning of the game supporters were told it could go ahead pending a 1.30pm pitch inspection for the 3pm kick off.
However, the referee said the pitch was not playable and confirmed United’s fifth postponement in the last seven matches. Meanwhile, boss Joyce has issued a message of praise to fans as the club heads into the new year looking for promotion from the Spartan South Midlands Premier League. He said: “Thanks for all your support in 2012, we have had a lot to cheer about recently on and off the field and hopefully we can push on again and have a bright future in 2013.” United are due to entertain Leverstock Green on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the two recently postponed games, against London Colney and Berko, have now been rescheduled by the league. The Ducks will travel to London Colney’s Cotlandswick ground on Tuesday January 29 and Berko will now visit Bell Close on Wednesday February 20.
