Rangers held to draw by 10-man Athletic

Risborough Rangers’ promotion bid suffered a slight setback last week when they were held to a 1-1 draw away at local rivals Buckingham Athletic.

Risborough’s goal came on 56 minutes through Jamie Shrimpton’s fine finish from close range after good work from Martin Griggs.

The game was end-to-end and despite the hosts having a player sent off late in the second half, they equalised with only six minutes left on the clock to take a deserved share of the points.

After this result, Risborough have now gone nine games unbeaten in the South Midlands League Division One. They are now down to sixth.

Rangers were also in action last night, Tuesday, when they hosted promotion rivals Bedford FC in a important league encounter.

This weekend, on Easter Saturday, Risborough have another local derby when they entertain Amersham Town in their final home game of the season.
