FC Spruce up their attack with winger signing

Jordan Spruce signs for Aylesbury FC from Corby Town

Jordan Spruce signs for Aylesbury FC from Corby Town

WHILE the wintry weather has left the bitter taste of FC’s 9-2 defeat at St Neots lingering for three weeks, it has allowed manager Steve Smith time to improve his struggling team.

With pitches frozen across the Vale and Tuesday night’s match at Daventry off due to a waterlogged pitch, FC have been taking to some indoor training where they ran the rule over Corby Town winger Jordan Spruce.

Spruce, described on Corby’s official website as a ‘talented midfielder’ is set to make his debut in FC’s return to action at home against Northwood on Saturday.

Spruce joined Corby Town from Newport Pagnell Town in March 2011.

The strong, left-sided player can also play in defence and could prove to be a shrewd bit of business by Smith, who feels he was just what FC needed.

“He’s a left-sided player, which is where we’ve been lacking.

“He is very, very skilful and powerful and looks good,” Smith said.

“Not playing has been frustrating because the lads just wanted to get out there and get it out of their systems. We trained really well the last few weeks, the lads look sharp, there is a good vibe.

“Most other teams are in the same boat (in having three weeks off) so we just have to go out there, make sure we start well and be positive,” he added.
