Chinnor ladies hold their neve in shoot-out to clinch more silverware

After winning the league last year, Chinnor Ladies have brought home more some silverware this season.

Following a hard-fought battle in their semi-final of the Thames Valley Women’s League Plate Cup, Chinnor progressed into the final which was played at Milton Untied.

Up against Holyport, Chinnor made most of the running in the final, striking the crossbar in one of several near misses, but neither side could make the breakthrough and the game went to penalties.

Chinnor penalty takers Katie Wales, Gemma Rockingham, Natalie Le Manquais, Hayley Cruickshanks and Harriot Davis, all kept their nerve and confidently buried their spot-kicks.

Having scored all four penalties so far, Holyport needed to convert their final one to stay alive but Chinnor goalkeeper Emma Cairns pulled off a superb save to secure the win for Chinnor who were crowned champions.

If there are any girls aged 16 or over or ladies keen to play football, contact Gemma Rockingham at [email protected] or go along to one of their training sessions held between 7.30-9pm on Wednesdays at Whites Field, Mill Lane, Chinnor.
