Hale Leys United marched into the third round of the Berks & Bucks Cup after hammering six goals past higher tier opposition in the form of New Bradwell St Peter.
Bradwell play in SSML Division One, a level above United, but Hale looked the better side throughout as they ran riot.
Tom Brindley was the chief tormentor with a fine hat-trick while Daniel Parsons bagged brace before ex-Bradwell man Niall Williams scored against his former side to cap off an emphatic win and send Hale safely through to round three.
Hale manager Paul Alleyne said “I was pleased with the performance today as we showed we can compete against higher tier opposition and hold our own.
“We really stepped up the standard. I asked the question and the players answered.
“Credit to Tom Brindley who continues to keep his goal count up and a great way to do it against a Division One side.
“We now have a difficult few weeks regarding fixtures as we travel to Clean Slate on Saturday followed by another midweek game with a Challenge Trophy replay against Premier Division side Hertford Town next Tuesday.
“So again this will test the boys and the squad and see who can deliver.
“I’m pleased with the progress the players are making this year and we are progressing well.”
