‘Blake made a mistake’ – boss says forward should have stuck with Aylesbury FC after being dropped
Ryan Blake in action for Aylesbury FC
Aylesbury FC manager Craig Faulconbridge says fleet-footed forward Ryan Blake was wrong to leave the club for Beaconsfield.
Blake, whose re-signing was viewed as a real coup for the club, was dropped by Faulconbridge for a string of profligate displays in front of goal last month.
And Faulconbridge said he was disappointed that the pacy youngster then decided to move on to pastures new rather than buckle down and earn his place back.
“I dropped Ryan against Northwood and I was doing it for his own good, but he chose to leave which was really disappointing,” Faulconbridge said.
“But I saw him and I said ‘you’re going to miss playing for us’ and I believe he will.
“I think there was a misconception from some of the players when I was made manager that, because I was a player and one of them, I would be less demanding, but that was soon put to bed,” he added.
