Aylesbury United’s ladies team made it three finals for the club on Sunday when they triumphed 5-3 against Taplow United.

After a nervy start, the Ducks took the lead midway through the first half when Steff Coe scored a free-kick from outside the penalty area before two quickfire strikes from Emile Wells looked to have put the game out of Taplow’s reach.

Things got even better for United in the second half as youngster Alex Slatter set up Kate Townley for a fourth, which was quickly followed by a fifth as Townley netted her second of the day.

Victory seemed a formality but Taplow had other ideas and three goals in 10 minutes left Aylesbury facing a nervy last 15 minutes, but the home side held on to seal their place in the final, where they will face either Summertown Stars or Bracknell Town Reserves.

Meanwhile, it was a mixed weekend for the Aylesbury United Juniors section with the U18s coming from a goal down to beat Bedgrove Dynamos 2-1. Having gone behind, Alessio Magnocavallo scored twice to earn United victory.

Elsewhere, Aylesbury U10 Colts were 1-0 winners over Widmer End while the U15 Juniors lost 5-2 at Marlow Youth and the U18 Youth side were beaten 2-1 at home to Chesham United Blues.
