Aylesbury & District League round-up: Bucks set up Missenden clash in cup final

The Aylesbury & District League Dayla Thomas Field Shield will see a repeat of last year’s final with holders Bucks CC to face Wycombe Senior side Great Missenden.

The defending champions beat FC Spandits 4-0 in a one-sided semi-final tie with Carl Moreton, Nick Underhill, Mark Swierzynski and Rikki Sinfield all netting. Great Missenden made it through by winning 3-1 over Long Marston.

In the Tom Sparkes League Cup, Wendover crashed out to lower division side Bucks CC Reserves after a 4-2 penalty shoot-out defeat in the quarter-finals.

ADL Premier Division title holders Walton Court Wanderers saw off Downley Albion 3-1 to move within a win of back-to-back title wins. Musa Schmidt (2) and Sajid Asraf on the score sheet as the result finally secured Downley’s relegation.

Haddenham Utd beat Berk Sports 3-0 to maintain their push at the top as Callum White notched a brace. Rich Jewell scored the other.

In Division One, Aylesbury Sports moved within a point of top spot thanks to a 3-1 win over FC Mandeville. Ian Pearce scoring twice and Mark Avis also netting.

Aylesbury Park Rangers remain in the promotion hunt with a 4-1 triumph against Bedgrove Dynamos. Chris Davies netted a hat-trick to take APR to within seven points of top spot with games in hand.

Longwick Sports were dealt a blow in their bid for a top two spot when held to a goalless draw by Wingrave, who should now be safe from relegation.

However, it’s all over for Northchurch who, following back-to-back promotions, have been relegated after a 3-1 defeat to Oving. A double from Pat Hurst and Stuart Richardson’s goal secured sealed Northchurch’s fate and also moved Oving away from danger and up to eighth.

Long Crendon are the Division Two champions. Having dominated the league for much of the season, Crendon wrapped up the title with a 4-1 victory over third-placed Tetsworth courtesy of goals from Oli Lethbridge, Harry Pettingell, Elliot Farley and Ryan Scott.

The defeat keeps Tetsworth third and they must now hope other results go their way to have any chance of winning promotion.

Tring Titans’ late late revival continued as they beat bottom side FC Spandits Reserves 2-0. Will Salmon and Tom North with the goals.

In Division Three, Tring Town AFC ensured that this weekend’s game versus Long Marston Reserves is a shoot-out for the title as they beat Rivets Sports Reserves 2-1. Ryan Shefras and Andrew Meager netting.

In the Subsidiary Cups, Aylesbury Dynamos thumped Ludgershall 8-1 in the senior version after Chris Shennan netted four goals and Ellis Goodin added a brace.

In the Junior version Group A, Long Crendon nabbed a smash and grab 3-2 win over SUFC. Iliaas Bendefa scored twice for SUFC but Chris Scott, Ian Anderson and Dan Sykes fired Crendon to victory.

Great Milton beat The Kennedy 4-0 to remain hopeful in the competition as Dan Smith (2), Ant Jones, Steve Green all found the back of the net, while in Group B, Wendover Reserves recorded their biggest win

when beating Tring Titans Reserves 9-0. Paul Shears (3) and Rich Cairnie (2) scoring the bulk of the goals.

In the final game, FC Mandeville Reserves beat Tetsworth Reserves 3-0.
