Aylesbury & District Football League round-up

With a mixture of cup and league action at the weekend, the Aylesbury & District League continues to throw up a number of surprises.

The unpredictable nature of the Premier Division continued as Haddenham Utd were tonked 5-1 by ever-improving defending champions Walton Court Wanderers after a goal each for Leon Harding, Sami Ashraf, Billal Richards and Daniel O’Sullivan.

Wendover have played more games but took advantage of that result by beating Pond Park Rangers 6-2, partly thanks to two Rob Monk penalties. Darren Woolard, Aaron Huddlestone, Tristan Nicholls and Tom Shepherd were also on the score sheet.

Draw specialists Aylesbury Dynamos conceded two penalties, one a 90th minute equaliser, at home to bottom side Elmhurst, for whom Waqar Mohammed and Ibra Mohamme scored in a 2-2 draw. Chris Shennan and Jon Lloyd netting for Dynamos.

In Division Two, previously unbeaten New Zealand were shocked by Bucks CC Reserves 2-0, Charlie Donnachie with both Bucks goals, while Tetsworth held Tring Town AFC to a 1-1 draw after Jordan FInch cancelled out Ryan Shefra’s strike.

St Johns took advantage as they went back to the top with a 6-0 win over Chandos Arms. Ian Pearce and Adam Richmond with braces, and Ray Atiba-Davies and Luke Cozens scoring the other two.

In Division Two, FC Spandits Reserves finally grabbed their first league win of the season in emphatic style, thumping Wendover Reserves 6-2. Wendover has only lost in the league prior to this game. The goals were scored by Brad Blaney (2), Jamie Chesterman (2), Dan Hart and Scott Mills.

Liam Marshall and David Touceda both netted as Long Crendon Reserves also grabbed a win at the bottom with a 2-0 victory over Bedgrove Ud, and FC Mandeville Reserves beat Wingrave Reserves 3-1 as Luke Trewavas, Steve Byrnes and Achie Harrison made it five defeats in a row for Wingrave.

In Division Three, Rivets Sports Reserve went back to the top with a 4-0 win over Aylesbury Dynamos Reserves. Two early James Tomlinson goals set Rivets on their way and after Dynamos failed to convert endless chances, Tomlinson completed his hat-trick before John Langford added a late fourth.

Tring Town AFC Reserves are third after a 6-0 win over The Kennedy FC, Tom Flynn and Luke Rosier with hat-tricks, while AC Meadowcroft held on with ten men after Jon Young’s goal to win 2-1 away at Oving Reserves.

At the bottom, Ludgershall Reserves are now well adrift after being hammered 5-0 by second bottom Bedgrove Dynamos Reserves. The goals came from Euan Hutchings (2), James Gibbons, Daryl Gearing and Chris Beckford.

In the cups, Division Three side Great Milton shocked Division Two Ludgershall 3-2 in the Tom Sparkes League Cup. RIchard Pallant (2) and Nigel Swafford scoring.

Long Marston beat Long Crendon 3-1 while Haddenham Utd Reserves thrashed Long Marston Reserves 6-0 thanks to Callum White (2), Andrew Lambie (2), Jordan Brown and Craig Bryson.

In the Thomas Field Shield. APBS whacked Bedgrove 10-1, Pat Callaghan (4) and Lewis Creser (3) the headline makers, and FC Thame beat Mandeville 8-1.

In the Sheffield Jackman Cup, neither Rivets Sports nor Oving could find the back of the net in 120 minutes as it ended 0-0, Oving eventually winning 4-3 on penalties.

FC Spandits are out of the Bedfordshire County Cup after losing 6-3 to Sundown Park Rangers in the day’s final game.
