Ducks get first win under new boss Stone
Aylesbury United grabbed their first win of the pre-season with a 1-0 victory at Binfield on Saturday.
A goalless draw was looking on the cards for new boss Martin Stone until Dean Powles rose to head home a freekick five minutes from time.
United had shown plenty of signs of promise in the first half and indeed had an early Otis Williams effort ruled out for offside.
The result follows a 3-0 defeat to Hayes and Yeading in the Ducks first pre-season friendly of 2009/10.
But despite the scoreline in front of more than 60 fans at Tring Corinthians, Stone will be pleased that his completely rebuilt team created several chances and that there were a number of very good individual performances.
The Ducks were due to play Hillingdon Borough last night.
They will then have a further three friendlies until they start their league campaign away to Biggleswade Town on August 15. They play Chalfont St Peter on Saturday, Winslow United on August 6 and finally AFC Hayes on August 8.
