AYLESBURY United boss Tony Thompson is looking forward to an end-of-season break after a 'long, hard season full of highs and lows'.
However, after his first full campaign at the helm, Thompson feels there are plenty of positives to work on for next season.

He added: "It's been a positive season. Last year we only had three local players in the side, but our team the other day had seven in it.

The likes of Tom (Vincent), Chris Aslett, Ross Taylor, Ben Stevens, James Faulkner, Nathan Graham and Kevin Mealor are all young local lads who will have learned a lot this season. The enjoyment of working with players like that is fantastic."

Boss Thompson also reserved a mention for crocked midfielder Liam Smyth and Matt Butler who have missed the majority of the season with cruciate ligament injuries.

He added: "We were so unlucky to lose both Liam and Matt so early on. They both live for their football and it will be nice to get them back involved next season."

United are holding their presentation evening this coming Saturday at the Ex-Services Club (from 7.30 - late). Midfielders Sam Swonnell and Ben Stevens - along with skipper Nick Leach - are likely to be in the hunt for the club's 'Player of the Year' award.

To reserve a ticket at the event, please contact the club on 434505. The presentation evening is being held at the Ex-Services Club on Saturday 3rd May, 7-30 till Late.
