OVER 100 friends and family turned out last Sunday for a testimonial match in memory of former Risborough Rangers footballer Andy Peel.
Andy's father, Dick Peel, played in the memorial game and afterwards paid tribute to those who attended the event.
He said: "It went very well and everyone was just pleased to be there; a game of football is definitely a fitting way to remember Andy."
Popular Andy died suddenly of a brain tumour in January at the age of 39, leaving behind wife Claire, his son Nathan and daughter Jessica.
A former first-team central defender, Andy moved into management at the club and became assistant manager of Risborough Rangers' reserve side.
Following a minute's silence at the memorial, it was 11-year-old Nathan - along with his grandad Dick - who kicked off the testimonial match to the cheers from the many spectators.
Nathan fittingly scored in the game - to the delight of his 6-year old sister Jessica who was applauding from the sidelines.
Andy's sister Julie Peel later thanked everyone who attended the memorial, particularly organiser Nick Bishop, and said: "We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended.
"You all made the day special and Andy would have been so proud. He was probably watching with his assistant manager's cap on, shouting and telling the players what to do."
