DINTON tumbled out of the National Villages Knockout Cup last Sunday at the hands of impressive hosts Bledlow Ridge.
Both sides' first competitive outing of the season proved a tough encounter - with Dinton seemingly more effected by early season rustiness than their opponents.

Batting first, Bledlow dealt well with the difficult conditions and some testing bowling to amass a useful 184 for seven in their 40 overs.
Turner (69) and Wells (43) excelled for the hosts who could have posted an even greater total, but for some fine spin bowling from Rodney Brown (1 for 31) and Richard Scott (4 for 42).

With the tricky wicket still playing up, Dinton's reply was undone by some consistent swing bowling from the Bledlow Ridge attack. Stevens (2 for 12), Keeping (2 for 45) and spinner Barran (4 for 26) did particular damage for the hosts and only dogged resistance from Shaun Smith (24) and big hitting from Nathan Brooks (24) ensured Dinton crossed the century mark (110 all out).

Ridge, however, came through with a 74-run victory and every expectation of progressing further in the competition.

Dinton's Firsts will hope to get back to winning ways when they take on Thame Firsts at home this Saturday (1.30pm). The club's Seconds, meanwhile, will make the short trip to Thame to take on the Oxfordshire outfit's second XI (1.30pm). On Sunday, Dinton's second string host The Lee in a friendly (2pm).
