AFTER winning against opponents they were expected to beat in the previous round of the FA Cup, both Aylesbury United and Aylesbury Vale go into the second qualifying round this weekend as underdogs.
Tomorrow (Saturday) the Ducks entertain Mangotsfield United, who are currently 15th in the British Gas Premier Division, the league above United, whilst Vale host Gosport Borough, one step ahead of them in British Gas Division One South & West.

With £4,500 going to the victors, there is a big incentive for both clubs to win- and be only two victories away from making it through to the FA Cup proper.

Ducks manager Tony Thompson said: "I went to watch them when they played Corby (losing 3-0].

"If we let them play it will be a difficult game because they are quite a capable side, but if we can get amongst them early on and close them down quickly, certainly I have seen nothing to be afraid of.

"If we play really well we have a good opportunity to get through to the next round."

Vale joint-manager Steve Glenister said Gosport- who play in the equivalent division as Aylesbury United- would be a good test of how far his team has come.

"It will be a good test for them to face a team in the league above, and the same league as Aylesbury," he said.

"It is a good one for the boys to see if they are capable of stepping up.

"If the club and the players have aspirations to go to the next level, this will be the parameter to go by.

"Gosport are currently midtable and that is where we are looking to pitch ourself - the club has got the aspirations to go to the next level, but you have got to be able to stay up too."
