AYLESBURY hovercraft racing star Mark Talbott hopes to mark his return to the sport with a strong performance at this weekend's Claydon House meet.
The 39-year-old has taken a year out from racing due to personal commitments, and is using the event- which is round four of six in the British Inland Hovercraft Championship- to prepare for competitive racing next year.
"I'm racing this weekend to clear out the cobwebs," he said. "My last race was in September last year, but its a bit like riding a bike.
I have always liked the Claydon course, there's a lot of space to overtake and I'm hoping to get myself into the top three," he added.
Talbott, who races for Team Topaz in the F503 category, will be looking to recapture his previous form over the last ten years, which has seen him win the British and European crowns twice, as well as coming third in the World Championships in France in 2006.
Last year his team finished second at the Claydon House meet.
He will not be able to race on Sunday as he is off to a wedding, but he is keen to make sure he enjoys a succesful Saturday.
"The pressure is not on me, I'm not chasing a championship but that does not mean I'm not going to try and win the day."
Racing is scheduled to start at around 1pm on Saturday and from 11.00am on Sunday. Entrance is £10 per car.
