Aylesbury FC have signed controversial ex Ducks striker James Faulkner despite boss Mark Eaton admitting the forward will need to 'build bridges' with many of his team mates who played with him at United.
The 21 year old, a former Wycombe youth player who scored 15 goals in 25 games for United in the 2007/08 season, was signed just before FC's 2-2 draw with Pitstone and Ivinghoe on Tuesday night.

Faulkner scored the second goal in that match- but also got in trouble for losing his temper.

Many of the Aylesbury FC squad is made up of former Ducks players, who will remember the cloud Faulkner left United under in July last year.

At the time, Ducks boss Tony Thompson questionned Faulkner's 'approach and attitude'.

Eaton, who was Thompson's number two at the time, said earlier this week: "Tommo was right and I think James knows that.

"I spoke to him and basically I said if he did come back obviously he has got to build a few bridges with people and he would have to make sure he knuckled down and had a really good attitude."

But he added: "Obviously from a football perspective he would be a major signing for us because there is no question the boy has got talent."

Faulkner said his attitude has improved and that he has been 'brought down to earth over the last year'.

He said he now realises 'non league is a very good standard of football, its not easy and 99 per cent of players are very good'.

"I don't think there will be any problems this year," he added. "I have spoken to Mark about it and a few of the players and they all seem fine. We are all on the same wave length for the upcoming season."

"I think the club is definitely looking to move forward and hopefully by the end of the season they will be out of the league they are in."

Aylesbury were held to a 2-2 draw against Pitstone and Ivinghoe on in their first pre-season game at Haywood Way.

Faulkner was asked to leave the field for 10 minutes in the first half as tempers flared; the referee eventually brought the managers together to calm things down.

Aylesbury's goal came just before half time when Aylesbury right back Mark Boyce surged down the right and unleashed a 30 yard thunderbolt into the net.

Straight after half time Pitstone hit back when Matt Hayward miss judged a long ball and Mitch Hamilton was able to guide the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Steve Smith.

Pitstone then went 2-1 up before Faulkner grabbed the equaliser.
