These photo of Morris Garages in Bicester Road, Aylesbury, date from around 1970, and were submitted by Bucks Herald reader Richard Collins.
At the time, the site, which is now dominated by the Broadfields retail park, was a massive source of employment for labourers.

To the left hand of the open picture are the factory buildings of Antiference Ltd, which manufactured television aerials.

To the right can be seen the chimneys of International Alloys, a huge site on which Broadfields, including, Tesco is now situated.

The vans in front of the showroom are about to be delivered to Morris Builders, which had no connection with Morris Garages, said Mr Collins, who lives in Pitstone.

The 60-year-old used to work at Ford & Slater, after they purchased the garages in 1972. He retired after nearly 30 years in 2001, by which time the site belonged to Hughes of Beaconsfield (it is now Hughes of Aylesbury).

The third photograph is believed to have been taken in Waddesdon about 100 years ago - although one man in the picture it seems would probably have been more at home in the Wild West.

The photograph has been submitted by Alistair Maclaren, who was given it by a lady from the village who found it whilst looking through some old family pictures.

"She thinks one of her ancestors might be in it and that it was taken on a farm in Waddesdon," he said.

"One of her ancestors owned a farm so we don't think it comes from the Waddesdon (Manor) Estate."

The event appears to be a shooting contest, with trophies adorning the table at the back and what looks like a trap device at the front.

All the men are wearing English bowler hats, apart from the man standing to the right hand side of the table behind the cases, with what looks like a stetson on his head.

"He's the one who caught my eye," said Mr Maclaren.
"He looks like an American would at that time and I find that very interesting. Maybe he was there to present the trophies, or to take part in the shooting."
