A group of youngsters who have caring responsibilities for a family member enjoy some respite with an activity day on the canal.
Ten young carers from Aylesbury spent the afternoon exploring the Grand Union Canal on canoes.
The six week programme of activities has been organised by the Canal and River Trust and Bucks Young Carers, and aims to get the youngsters interested in sporting activities.
Joe Sammon, of the Canal and River Trust, said: “As a young carer it can be really difficult to combine the responsibilities at home and being active, so it is great that we have been able to offer canoeing sessions along the canal.
“It may look tricky, but canoeing is perfect for beginners to try as it’s really easy to pick up and is great to do with friends.”
Philippa Taylor, from Bucks Young Carers added: “These sporting activities are a great opportunity for young carers to have a break from their caring responsibilities, and meet up with others in a similar situation to themselves.
“Being active whilst exploring the waterways is a wonderful combination and I am sure everyone has had a great time out on the canal.”
