An Army photographer in the Royal Logistic Corps has won two top categories in this year’s Army Photographic Competition.

Corporal Tom Evans, aged 30, who delivers media training to defence personnel at RAF Halton, won the Best Professional Video with a video of Snipers. He also won the Best Professional Soldiering category, with this still image of the Irish Guards on exercise.

Tom said: “It’s exciting to win. It’s really unexpected, to be honest. I had a feeling the video would do well because that’s something we’re trying to specialise in here.

“But to win with a still photograph as well, I didn’t expect that.

Father-of-two Tom only transferred into the photographic trade a year ago. He was inspired to take up photography after seeing some of the stunning images of Op Herrick while he was serving in Afghanistan.
