A team at commercial and domestic lift specialists GARTEC, in Aylesbury, have pledged to raise £1,000 by carrying out a sponsored day’s work in a wheelchair to support Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research (SMSR).
Graham Parr, managing director of GARTEC, said: “We’re delighted to make Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research our official charity partner. As many of our clients are wheelchair users it is important for our team to be able to gain a deeper empathy for their challenges. GARTEC is always looking for ways to support the community we work in so it’s great to be able to help Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research in this way.
On the day of their Wheels at Work day, Luke Delahunty, ambassador for SMSR, visited their office to give the team encouragement. Luke recently competed in the GB team at the Invictus Games and is actively supporting all participants of Wheels at Work.
Schools, businesses and colleges across the UK have been taking part in Wheels at Work which invites participants to carry out their usual working day in a wheelchair (supplied for free by mobility company Gerald Simonds).
