What's in your glovebox?

VEHICLES were targeted by thieves over the weekend as opportunists broke into cars and vans.

In just one hour between 9pm and 10pm that the owner of a Ford Fiesta left their car parked on Bullfinch Gardens in Watermead, the four wheel trims were stolen.

Meanwhile, overnight on Saturday in Friarscroft Way, the window of a Fiat van was smashed and a satellite navigation unit was taken from the glovebox.

On the same night a handbag was taken from the passenger seet of a VW Golf on Wallbridge Close, off Rowland Way.

Finally, some time between Saturday and Monday, cable was taken form the back of an Iveco works van in the Griffin Lane Industrial area.

A statemement from the police said: "Do not leave property in your vehichle when unattended, even for a short time, and remove items such as sat navs and their holders from your car.

"A sat nav holder, or even the marks they leave on the windscreen, can be enough to tempt a potential criminal to break in and check out your glovebox."

Anyone with information about the thefts should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
