As shown in the video, police officers shut off most of the road from the Apple Green Aylesbury Petrol Station down to where the road turns off into Holman Street – close to the gates of the old Quarrendon School.

Police were called to the scene at around 8.45pm following reports of a disturbance at a property.

Officers attended the scene after also being told of a concern for safety at the home.

A 37 year old man from Aylesbury was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remains in custody.

One eyewitness, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “I was over at the petrol station getting some cigarettes and all of a sudden there were flashing lights and police everywhere.

“Obviously I hope nothing bad has happened but usually when you see this many police it can’t be good.

“At first I thought it might be a drugs raid or something to do with terrorism, but everyone is saying that someone might have tried to kill themself.

“I just hope they got here in time and that nobody has been hurt.”

The road reopened at 12.15am this morning.
