UPDATED at 2.30pm: Snowfall forces schools across Aylesbury Vale to close

LATEST: THERE will be no evening classes at Aylesbury College tonight (Monday).

Due to the worsening weather conditions the college has decided to close at 6pm. Currently they plan to open as usual in the morning.

Elsewhere, Broughton Junior and Infant Schools have closed at midday today (Monday) due to a gas leak. A heating problem at the junior school has meant it has had to close earlier than originally planned this morning. The neighbouring infant school was also affected and closed at the same time.

Both schools will remain closed tomorrow (Tuesday) due to forecasts of heavier snow.

The closures come as only a few schools across the Vale remain open due to the snowfall. More than 180 schools across Bucks are partially or fully closed citing staff shortages and poor forecasts as the main causes.

The latest victims of the bad weather conditions is St Louis School and Stone CofE Combined School which will both close at 1pm today. The new closures come after Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School became the latest to close and cancel parents' information evening tonight.

The meeting about the forthcoming Sixth Form trip to Krakow has been postoned. The school will inform people of a new date in due course.

But some are not letting the weather hold the children back from learning.

Around Aylesbury town Bedgrove Infant and Bedgrove Junior Schools are planning to close at the normal time today. Broughton Junior and Infant Schools will close at 2pm.

Further out into the villages Stoke Mandeville Primary School, Winslow Church of England Combined School and Aston Clinton Primary School will be open today.

Bierton CofE Combined School will be open until midday.

The only upper schools staying open are John Colet, Wendover and Waddesdon CofE School.

Mandeville Upper School has already announced it will remain closed tomorrow (Tuesday).
