The University of Buckingham has topped student satisfaction and staff-student ratio rankings ahead of all other universities in the country - including Oxford and Cambridge.

Tables released by The Complete University Guide also showed it is also the safest campus in the country.

The university – one of the smallest in the UK – was one of the highest climbers in the rankings, placing in the top 20 for graduate prospects. In terms of the overall score Buckingham came second across Bucks, Beds, Oxon and Herts.

Speaking about the accolades, vice-chancellor, Sir Anthony Seldon, said: “It’s no concidence that we are top for student satisfaction and for staff-student ratio.

“An increasing number of students are choosing us over large universities because instead of big, impersonal lectures, our academics have an open-door policy and students can get help whenever they need it.”
