A discount retail store has invested £250,000 in opening its 200th store in a town centre retail park.

The Original Factory Shop opened its doors to customers for the first time on Saturday, in the unit formerly occupied by JJB Sports at the Vale Retail Park in Aylesbury.

The discount department store was officially opened by Mix 96 mascot Alfie the Duck, who cut the ceremonial ribbon at 9am.

The company has invested a quarter of a million pounds in the new store, which has created 20 new jobs for the local people.

The store sells men’s, women’s, and children’s clothes along with homeware, electrical goods and beauty products.

On the day of the launch, there was balloon modelling for children as well as competitions with free prizes.

Area manager Stephen Hill was ‘overjoyed’ with the launch and optimistic about the future.

He said: “We’re delighted to have opened our 200th store in Aylesbury.

“We’re hoping that our blend of well-known brands, great value and unbeatable prices will make us a firm favourite with local and visiting shoppers alike.”
