Suspected burglar from Aylesbury discovered after 'friendly' road check
A man from Aylesbury who was wanted on suspicion of burglary has been arrested after police stopped his car to give out routine road safety advice.
Stephan Edwards, 26, has now been charged in connection with a burglary in Towsey Way, Aylesbury, in June.
He was arrested at 9.30pm on Monday at a service station on the A4010 near Terrick.
He was identified by police officers who stopped a vehicle which had faulty rear lights.
Aylesbury Neighbourhood Inspector Aylesbury, Omar Abu-Rish, said: "The circumstances of his arrest are that officers from an Armed Response Vehicle were on routine patrol when they saw a car driving at around 9.30pm with no lights.
"On stopping the vehicle to speak to the driver and offer some friendly advice about road safety they discovered that it contained Mr Edwards."
Edwards has been remanded in custody.
He is next appearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on 20 September.
