Students from Aylesbury Grammar School have triumphed for the second year in a row in a maths competition.

Tom Hinson (right) and Muhammad Moeen won the Jaguar Maths in Motion Challenge for Schools World Final.

The pupils beat more than 100,000 students in the competition by achieving the fastest time in a virtual racing car which they set up using a variety of maths skills.

Thirty-two teams competed in the event at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

The teams had 90 minutes to make their calculations ahead of racing. Tom and Muhammad won the race, around a virtual Silverstone circuit in 1:52:26.58, by 13 seconds.

The students won the secondary school world champion trophy and the overall race for the second year running.
