Singers wanted for operatic workshop

Budding opera singers are invited to a choral workshop being run by Aylesbury Choral Society musical director Jeff Stewart.

Mr Stewart was appointed to the post this year and is running the workshop at The Church on Fairford Leys from 10.30am - 5.30pm on Saturday (June 13).

Mr Stewart is a professor of the vocal faculty at the Royal College of Music and at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has a busy private teaching practice.

The pieces that he hopes to work with at the workshop on Saturday include the Prisoners Chorus from Fidelio by Beethoven; the March of the Toreadors from Carmen by Bizet; the Humming Chorus from Madame Butterfly by Puccini; the Chorus of Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco by Verdi; and the Triumphal Scene from Aida by Verdi.

Music will be provided on the day.

The cost for the workshopis £15 per person , £12 for members of the society, under 18s free but they must be accompanied by an adult.
