Much of the south and Midlands will be hit by torrential downpours this afternoon, according to the Met Office.
A yellow severe weather warning for rain has been issued from 1pm and is in place until 9pm this evening (Thursday).
A Met Office spokesman said: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to break out on Thursday afternoon. Not everywhere will see these, but where they do occur, be aware of localised impacts from hail and lightning, as well as heavy rain producing standing water on roads and reduced visibility.”
The showers are expected to slowly die out on Thursday evening.
