Risborough thug caged after inflicting 'horrific' injuries
A thug from Princes Risborough has been jailed for five years after blinding a man by smashing a glass into his face.
Anthony Brown, 23, from Northfield Road was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm by a majority jury verdict of 10 to two, following a four day trial.
The assault took place at The Legion, Princes Risborough on Friday 16 January 2009.
The 40-year-old victim was in the club with friends when Brown ran at him and smashed a glass into the left side of his face.
This resulted in deep facial lacerations and the victim losing one eye.
Brown fled the scene and was arrested the following day.
Det Con James Oxley, who led the investigation, said: "The victim sustained horrific, life changing injuries, as a result of the assault.
"I am pleased with the sentence and I hope now Brown is in prison for his actions, the victim can start to rebuild his life.
"I hope this also makes other people aware of the consequences of such actions.
"Is it worth losing years of your life in prison and having a criminal record for the rest of your life which will affect the choices and decisions you can make in the future?"
