Two takeaways in Aylesbury must make urgent improvements after health inspectors found hygiene levels were ‘poor’.

Spicy Bites in Aylesbury High Street - which only opened in March - and Oasis Takeaway in Cambridge Street were visited by Aylesbury Vale District Council.

They gave both restaurants a score of two out of five, which means: “Some major non-compliance with statutory obligations – more effort required to prevent fall in standards.”

At both takeaways, council inspectors found there were some ‘major’ issues with hygiene and structural compliance – which covers lighting, layout and ventilation.

The two firms were contacted but have not commented on the visits.

Confidence in the management of Spicy Bites was said to be ‘good’ (4) while there was ‘some’ (3) confidence in Oasis.

The inspections took place on July 29.

A spokesman for Oasis said they had rectified the issues raised by AVDC and were confident this would be shown when the takeaway is re-inspected in the near future.
